the richness of the very barrio

This one very barrio of Matanao Davao del Sur seems going against the belief
that only those living in a very competitive and opportune urban are able and advantageous.

This vastly view of agricultural land promises certain advantage.

A wealth that only nature can give....

with proper cultivation

adding the application of plain technology …

(this irrigation also kills the starvation of youngsters from swimming into pool, rivers, seas...likewise this running water fulfill the need of mothers cleaning their clothes

how great is the tao here converting something to become alternative)

… this portion of native land is surely a hit that can contribute to the betterment of lives not only for the people of Matanao but for the countryside indeed.

Mountain standing tall with lush trees and plants

is undoubtedly a home of diverse animals

making our ecosystem in balance.

covering this tactically designed rice field,

sheltering people of the community from any inevitable disastrous calamities...(though pristine is lacking... this seemingly dilapidated nipa hut is no doubt the haven of exhausted farmer)

a file of different fruit-bearing trees freed people from starvation

undeniably peaceful and pollution free environment will be felt in this very barrio...

... there the richness of being SIMPLE

... whatever it takes

even it measures thousand of meters,

even if student takes hundred of steps due to the scarcity of any means of transportation

even if student suffer from muddy walk

even if student awakes earlier than the tilaok ng manok ...

eventhough facility is differ far from those in the city

where abundance of concrete establishment is evidently seen

and a lot of even though....

as long as the eagerness is present

as long as support is felt

as long as the ambition is drawn

changes will be met.

missing native delicacy

Sweet native kakanin…that’s the most preferred merienda of Quezonian’s

And since I am a local of Atimonan who settle here in Mindanao for six years and a half my sense desires for something sweet and native…

Back when I was a child I remember eating

….karioka (made up of rice or grated cassava, coconut milk, deep fried and coated with brown sugar)

….sinanday (fried chopped banana or camote dip in yellow colored flour with little amount of sugar)

….saludsod (ground sticky rice with coconut extract cooked with little amount of oil)

Then ... I become a person with a sweet tooth.

After so many years of not eating those palatable dishes… this yearns me to look for a substitute.

To my surprise during travel after execution of my daily job…this newly built building caught my attention. MERS is the name!!!

Curiosity strikes me … I enter the vicinity… there I found variety of food…

an extra ordinary food cooked and packed to arouse the delight of the eating public.

To try the taste I approached the counter and bought some.

…riding on the company service vehicle taking direction to Davao City enjoyment fills me… aside from the green scenery of nature and the ocean’s brilliant blue color we experienced the delectable taste of MORON and a cracker made of flour.

Sharing the sensation with my co employees they text me to bring “pasalubong”…

uninformed with my actions… surprised was on their face when I plate my present…

much when they take a spoonful of “suman”.

It triggers them to ask….

Sir san mo po eto binili???

... this place is said to be the FOOD BASKET OF MINDANAO...

well in fact its true... voyaging towards this province puts you in awe

as vast agricultural land planted with different kind of crops

seen resting as equal as the bluish sky.

apart from agriculture being their primary source of living...

people in this place are gifted in making decorative object skillfully by their bare hand.

whether if it is in a form of hanging native ornaments

native plate

or even basket

(you can buy this at Budda Bukidnon in a very affordable price)

Going en route for Bukidnon makes you at peace...

weather is fine and cool since plenty of fine trees are planted on top of the mountain

or even along side of the ways.

People's characteristic can be perceived on their house structural design...

SIMPLE yet CHARMING

Travelers can also notice some of the out of the ordinary thing...this makes tourist wonder and think!

Since road to Bukidnon is on the process of restoration...

you may encounter DIFFERENT types of peddlers (may edad man o bata)

selling the SAME KIND OF GOODS/FOODS

and peanut is one of their common denominator.

passing through the Municipality of Quezon, Maramag and City Proper of Valencia...

numerous vendors of the famous DURIAN will be seen along side of the road heading to Malaybalay.

(mango, pineapple, water melon are also - if on season - spotted for sale)

Vast sugar cane plantation can be found here.

Thats why 10 wheeler trucks are very much visible in the area

tranpsorting harvested sugar cane from plantation to milling company.

It is also a home of active and not active volcanoes.

talagang talaga...ang sarap bumalik sa probinsyang kakaiba ang ganda....
